Made up of bamboo, capital and labor intensive work.
Probably one of my favorite pictures from the recent trip to HK. This photo embodies how they’re economically strong. Focusing on Urban Economics, we can observe how the use of land is utilized. Instead of just building simple single-use houses, they tend to construct mixed-use buildings for the purpose of residential and commercial use. This enables the local community to absorb the positive spillover of having shops selling commodities near their residences (pharmacy, convenient stores, bakery, meat shop, primary school, offices, etc.). It also drastically decreases the need for commuting since what you need is already within your area.
